Who are Sir Marmaduke Rawdon`s Regiment?
 

We are: -

A group of friends from across the U.K. and from all walks of life. Some could have joined just last year, while others have been 'serving their King' since the 1980s. Men, women, children, teen-agers, and older people are all equally welcome to join our ranks.

The Regiment is our hobby, and allows us to get away from the 9 to 5 tedium of everyday life for a few weekends every year. Some members are mainly interested in learning more of the History. Others like to recreate the costumes, weapons and tools of the time. The keen campers among us enjoy the opportunity to pitch tent at historic sites around the Country. There are even some (who shall be nameless!) that relish the chance to sample the real ales in the 'Beer Tent'. Whatever the motivation, we all strive to have lots of fun and enjoy the weekends.

We try to present an authentic impression of a 17th Century military unit in our dress, our equipment, and in our actions on the battlefield. Not only do we recreate battles as part of the English Civil War Society - with up to 1000 combatants - but we also organise our own Skirmishes (small - scale battles) and living History Events where we could take over and garrison a Castle or other Historic Building. Whatever the Event, we seek to educate and entertain in equal measure.
